The Barnyard Burger

Cowboy Cafe | Arlington, Virginia

Rating: 7.5/10

Menu Says: The whole farm! Two 1/2lb beef patties, BBQ pork, two slices of cheddar, a fried egg, and bacon - $20.00

Josh Says: This burger is enormous... I mean, it's like two meals' worth of food kind of big. Surprisingly, size is not the best thing this burger has going for it. When it comes to beef, I often subscribe to the saying, 'less is more!' I don't appreciate countless restaurants masking their burgers' mediocre flavor with excessive amounts of mayo-based dressing or 'special sauce'. This burger laughs in the face of simplicity and is all the better for it. The cheddar, bacon, pulled pork, and egg work harmoniously to give this burger a podium finish. The bun was light yet sturdy and nicely toasted on both sides. The burger was cooked to medium-well as requested. If the portion of fries in the photo appears disappointing, it should be noted that quite a few fries were consumed prior to the photo being taken. The Barnyard Burger exudes a remarkable sense of self-awareness, confidently presenting itself as nothing more than exactly what it is. While it may not be the best burger I've ever tasted, I'd be delighted to enjoy this beef Picasso any day.

Of Interest: Every Tuesday, Cowboy Cafe has 1/2 price burgers when you order a beverage. That makes this behemoth of a burger a $10 steal!
